Description
Of all my many photographic expeditions in Florida, exploring the Wacissa River has been one of the most memorable. Arriving early on a crisp fall morning with my tiny boat, steam rose from the water. I followed a few of the tributaries in search of spring boils. With more than a dozen springs feeding the river, the water is cool and crystal clear. The river run is approximately 12 miles long and flows through a broad cypress swamp before merging with the Aucilla River. Wildlife is abundant, populated by many species of birds, fish, and mammals.
