Description
I was inspired the by weathered knees and trunks of the cypress trees and the glassy surface of the water to create this photograph on black and white film. I used my tiny boat to navigate along the shoreline until I found a suitable location for the composition. This is the mouth of Shingle Creek on Lake Tohopekaliga (Toho) in Osceola county. The lake gets it's name from the Seminole meaning "we will gather here". The creek's name is derived from the fact that early settlers to the area used the cypress to make shingles for their homesteads. Shingle Creek forms the headwaters to the Florida Everglades.

CHERL- I feel that way about Florida. Most people think it's a giant beach with Disney in the middle!

Thanks, Chris. I'm always glad to be an ambassador for my City - to let people know that we are more than just Bourbon Street.

Chris, I especially appreciate your choice of B&W for this one. It seems to greatly enhance the textures and gives the whole image the quality of an ink print from a zinc plate. Wonderfully done! voted
