Description
The beauty of Florida's Springs are unsurpassed. They are formed when rainfall filters down through the loose sandy soil and porous limestone bedrock that are common in Florida. The limestone acts as a filter, removing particles from the water. This percolates down to the Floridan Aquifer, natures underground water storage system. The water contains a mild acid formed by a combination of carbon dioxide and decaying plants. This slowly erodes the limestone creating underground caverns that have become connected over time. Rainwater flowing down into the caves creates pressure, forcing water to the surface in the springs. This spring is located along the Santa Fe River in Columbia County.

Thank you Lovejoy Creations. Swimming and snorkeling in the springs can be a spiritually enlightening experience. Thank you again for your kind words.
