Artist's Description
Louisiana herons are also known as the Tricolored herons. It is native to the Gulf States in the U.S., the Caribbean, Central and South America. The Tricolored Heron is built for marsh life: long legs enable it to wade and see down through the water; long toes churn up food and distribute weight over soft mud; a long neck and bill help reach prey; and broad wings can lift the heavy body vertically out of a brushy wetland. They breed in sub-tropical swamps. The birds normally fish in a slow stalking manner. Louisiana herons have a diet of insects, crustaceans, fish, and amphibians. They are about 22 inches long with a wingspan of three feet. The herons live in marshes, swamps, bayous, mudflats, lagoons, and coastal ponds. Photograph taken in Wetlands Park in Orange County.

It became apparent that researching the accomplishments of painters would also be beneficial. Chris began to establish his own style, a fusion of art and...
