Artist's Description

This beautiful little spring fed creek runs from Osceola County west to Polk County,Florida. I have followed it from Huckleberry Island Wildlife Management Area through to Marion Creek W.M.A. The ecosystems I encountered along the way ranged from flat scrub areas to hardwood hammocks. In one section it flows around the base of an ancient dune over one hundred feet in elevation, which is a section of the Lake Wales Ridge. I have entertained the thought of attempting to launch an inflatable boat to navigate the creek, but some areas pass through dense areas of forest which no doubt provides a comfortable home for venomous snakes such as the cottonmouth. It's just a little too tight for my comfort range! The creek is loaded with fish, turtles and giant apple snails. I have spotted otter hunting along its banks as well.

It became apparent that researching the accomplishments of painters would also be beneficial. Chris began to establish his own style, a fusion of art and...
