Description
Sanderlings are Arctic breeders and migrate great distances to southern parts of the world including Florida. They are small sandpipers, feeding on crabs and other invertebrates. Sebastian Inlet is in Brevard and Indian River Counties and is famous for it's fishing pier and surfing. The inlet is not a natural feature. Attempts were made since the late 1800's to open a channel from the Sebastian River to the Atlantic. They did not succeed until 1924.
