Description
The plasma was manipulated with a magnet for composition. I find this series of artwork to have both abstract and concrete elements. Electromagnetic plasma is found in nature. An example of this would be the "northern lights", glowing gas observed in the sky in northern latitudes . Plasma emitted from the Sun collides with the Earth's atmosphere and is drawn along Earth's magnetic field toward the poles. The man made version of this was invented by Nikola Tesla in 1894. High frequency radio waves transmitted from the center excites a mixture of gases in the globe that discharges on the outside of the globe. Tesla called this" The Inert Gas Discharge Tube."
