This lovely historical property is a stark contrast to the busy tourist corridor in Kissimmee, Florida located just a few miles away. Everything remains much as it was when Mister Babb who was a native of Hardeman County, Tennessee moved to Kissimmee in 1914. Old orange, grapefruit, and tangerine groves can be found on the property as well ornamental trees. Beautiful Shingle Creek which is the headwaters to the Florida Everglades borders the farm. Christopher Columbus brought the first citrus to the New World in 1493. The early Spanish explorers, probably Ponce de Leon, planted the first orange trees around St. Augustine, Florida, sometime between 1513 and 1565. The heritage left behind in citrus was destined to blossom into industries worth billions of dollars.

Chris was born in southern Delaware in 1960. As a teenager he began studying maps of Florida and dreamed of exploring the state and it’s natural treasures. In the early 1980’s he moved to Central Florida. During his travels throughout the state he discovered the beauty of it’s swamps, prairies, springs, rivers and lakes. This led to an interest in photography and it’s ability to document his adventures. He also developed an interest in astronomy. He studied the work of Ansel Adams and his “zone” system as well as the works of the his colleges in the “f 64 club” of art photographers.
