Description
I had Isis for a pet for more than ten years. She could inflict a nasty wound but never bit me. She was unexpectedly vocal at times, exclaiming "poo-kay,poo-kay!" For her portrait, I preset the focus on my rather large roll film camera and set it inside the tank. Black velvet was draped over the back of the tank. I have a 20"x30" print of her in my study. The tokay gecko is a nocturnal tree dwelling gecko, ranging from northeast India, to Nepal and Bangladesh, throughout Southeast Asia, Philippines to Indonesia and western New Guinea. Its native habitat is rainforest trees and cliffs, roaming at night in search of insect prey.Compared to other gecko species, the Tokay has a muscular build, with a prehensile tail, a large head and powerful jaws. The Tokay Gecko is the second largest Gecko species, attaining lengths of about 19 inches. They are distinctive in appearance, with a bluish body, with spots ranging from light yellow to bright red.
