Artist's Description

I was intrigued with the textures and geometry of this image. Photograph taken with a vintage Ricoh Citizen XV twin lens reflex camera. Highlands Hammock was Florida's first State Park, established in 1931 four years before the establishment of the State Park system in Florida. The property was originally acquired by local citizens concerned over the fate of the land being converted to farmland. After the purchase they unsuccessfully lobbied to bring the conservation area to National Park status. Its boundaries encompass 9,000 acres. The park has many ancient trees, many believed to be over 1,000 years old. One of Florida's largest oaks can be found on the site, having a girth of over 36 feet. It is also home to an abundant wildlife population, including deer, alligators, hawks, owls, woodpeckers, bear and on occasion the rare Florida Panther.

It became apparent that researching the accomplishments of painters would also be beneficial. Chris began to establish his own style, a fusion of art and...
