Description
With every visit, I am in awe of the magical beauty of the swamp in the Bull Creek Wildlife Management Area. Well constructed footbridges allow access to the area. Purchased by George Hopkins in 1902, a small railroad was constructed to move cypress to his sawmill in Melbourne, about 25 miles east of here. The area was heavily logged until 1928. The state bought the land in 1967 for flood control and in 1970 it was leased to The Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission for use as a Wildlife Management Area.
